FY 2005 NROWS UPDATES

Attention all NROWS users…

Important changes coming your way soon!

A new upgrade of the Naval Reserve Order Writing System (NROWS) is planned for 17 January. The upgrade will make NROWS easier for you to use, and more powerful than ever before. The new changes will empower both Reservists and Full Time Support (FTS) staff to manage the order process.

In general, the upgrade will:

Standardize the look of NROWS on the screen for all users.

Make NROWS totally Web-based for easier access.

Create gaining unit order approval for cross-assigned out Reservists.

And more…

These specific changes will take place:

The Training Officer (TO) role will be called "Unit Reviewer," and Commanding Officer (CO) role will be the "Unit Approver."

Everyone will see the same views throughout the application. More consistency, less confusion.

Everyone from "Sailor" through "Order Specialist" will share the same abilities to:

Request new orders.

Pullback a request until "Fund Approval" occurs.

Edit the request.

Modify existing orders.

Approval routing for cross-assigned Reservists will now include the gaining command CO as the Unit Approver.

The Sailor will have full control to complete data fields in the request.

The Citrix server will be deactivated and the entire system will become Web-based.

All order modifications (mods) will route exactly like the original requests.

Hard Holds will be approved individually, rather than as a group.

Disapprovals will route back only one role for action, rather than all the way back to the originator.

The Order Writing Authority (OWA) will be able to add profiles to any user in the system, and add or modify any roles under their control.

Orders Tracking will make it easier to view modifications, not just the latest change.

Sorting and filtering of inboxes will be improved.

Email and phone # will be added to the screen for Permanent Mailing Address Change.

Email notifications sent to users will include a handy link to the NROWS login screen.

Online training for NROWS users at http://nrows.raytheonpns.com. This course will greatly enhance your knowledge and use of NROWS.

Recommendations for all NROWS users:

It’s worth repeating. Please encourage all to utilize the NROWS online training at http://nrows.raytheonpns.com. To date only 350 users have logged on.
